TRAVEL LECTURE WITH MC ASIA
ON MOTORCYCLE OVER THE WORLD'S HIGHEST MOUNTAIN PASS
MC Asia's founder, Villads Mortensen, has spent the last 12 years of his life riding the roads on a motorcycle in Peru, Madagascar, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Vietnam and in many other countries. This lecture is about his favorite destination: the Himalayas of India, which has some of the world's most magnificent and inaccessible terrain.
The lecture is about picking up local hitchhikers at an altitude of 4,500 meters, about getting carried away by the atmosphere and rhythms of colorful Hindu weddings, about drinking salted tea and staying with a local Muslim family in Kashmir, and about going to morning prayers with monotonous chanting of monks in ancient monasteries in Buddhist Ladakh.
And then it's about driving through the sky desert on one of the world's highest roads on the Tibetan Plateau, where only the dust and the wind are your travel companions. The lecture is a tour de force in Himalayan culture, history and many religions and consists of a display of photos from the travels, peppered with personal anecdotes.
STATEMENTS
I attended primarily because I had invited a friend who is happy to travel on a motorcycle, and then experienced one of the most "mountain-taking" lectures I have ever heard.
Well-told, informative, authentically unadorned, captivating, funny, human-loving and with life stories that put life in perspective.
Photos were also absolutely fantastic. Great respect. – Mette Schantz
